"Ao" is the Hawaiian word for light, day, daylight or dawn.  In Māori mythology, "Ao" is a deity personifying light, clouds and the ordinary world. Ao is pronounced "Ah-Oh" in both languages. Our founders are of AAPI descent and have connections to Polynesia.
